The Dual-Track University: Integrating Degrees & Aviation Licensing
APRIL 2025•ENGR. ISAAC DAVID BALAMI
Traditional higher education in Africa has long suffered from a gap between academic theory and practical industry requirements. Universities produce graduates holding degrees who often require years of retraining before they are capable of operating or maintaining commercial aircraft.
Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM Lagos) was designed to dismantle this divide. By integrating flight simulators and direct 7Star Hangar access into the curriculum, students graduate with an NUC-accredited B.Eng. or B.Sc. degree alongside an active NCAA Aircraft Maintenance License or Pilot License.
This dual-track model is the future of African pragmatic technical education.
